The Cockerill innovation in medium calibre

CMI Defence’s experience and technical expertise in integrating cutting-edge multi-functional weapon systems into lightweight air-transportable armoured vehicles provides CMI Defence with a unique capability: integrate all types of medium calibre guns (25-50 mm) into turret systems that make full use of CMI Defence’s proven modules and technologies developed for its large calibre CT-CV™ and LCTS90 Weapon Systems.

Independent of all vehicle and subsystem manufacturers, CMI Defence is able to integrate into its medium calibre turret designs a range of cannons, secondary armaments, sighting systems, protection systems and other subsystems. This adaptability allows CMI to offer solutions tailored to meet the ever demanding operational needs of armed forces worldwide, also taking into account their existing fleets.

  • Two man turret
  • Firing Control System equipped with:
    • 2-axis stabilised day / night (thermal camera) gunner sighting system with laser range finder
    • Ballistic computer to engage ground and low speed airborne targets at 1,500-2,000 m
  • 2-axis stabilized day / night (thermal camera) panoramic sighting system with laser range finder (giving hunter-killer capability)
  • Electronic control system: digital electronic architecture
  • Fast motion electro-mechanical power control system
    • n x 360° in rotation
    • Maximum depression / elevation: -20° to +60°
  • Two types of ammunition including programmable rounds
  • Displays for crew members providing access to images from:
    • Sighting systems (including video)
    • Turret operation controls
    • Close situational awareness system
  • Ballistic protection up to Level 5 (STANAG 4569) with add-on armour
  • Advanced ergonomic design of commander’s and gunner’s operating stations enhancing overall functionality
  • Fully integrated secondary armaments such as :
    • Grenade launchers of different calibres (66 mm, 76 mm,…)
    • 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun

 All of CMI Defence’s integrated medium calibre weapon systems are based on automatic cannon as specified and selected by the prospective customer.
